I totally agree that this is much ado about nothing. I actually believe that most Americans have figured out that for all the pain and suffering, accidentally or intentional, that McCain has endured for his country, that it still isn't a prerequisite to be a president of the u.s. Clark simply stated a fact, and I hope that he doesn't back down from it. It's no secret, although it might be delusional to some McCain supporters and the media to act as if the Clark is a terrible person for uttering this remark. I always say, just because my spouse is a lawyer, doesn't mean that I get to be Clarence Darrow!
